Farmers Market 2018

Hey all!  It's almost that time again!  We will be at the Champlain Islands Farmers Market this summer!  Our first market is May 19th from 10-2 in Grand Isle, VT.  Markets are every Wednesday in South Hero from 3pm-6pm and every Saturday in Grand Isle from 10am-2pm,  May 19th - September 29th.  We will have all of our delicious Maple!  We will have our Certified Organic, Bird Friendly Maple Syrup, Maple Cream, Maple Sugar, Maple Candy, and Maple Cube.  We will also have our Wicked Maple Peppa', Maple Candied Nuts, Maple Sugar & Cinnamon, and our maple gear!  We hope to see you there!

Farmers Market!

We are excited to be at the Champlain Islands Farmers Market again this upcoming summer!  The first Saturday market is May 21st in Grand Isle at St. Joseph's Church from 10am-2pm and the first Wednesday market is May 25th in South Hero at St. Rose of Lima Church from 3pm-6pm.  Mark your calendars!  We will have our usual products: Certified Organic Maple Syrup, Certified Organic Maple Cream, and Certified Organic Maple Sugar, and Maple Candied Nuts. We also have some new and exciting products, Maple Sugar & Cinnamon, Vermont Maple Pepper Seasoning, our Maple Cube, and a few others still in progress.  Come and stock up or pick up a gift.  Can't wait to see you there!

Maple Banana Bread! It's a must try!

Maple Banana Bread

½ Cup Butter (room temperature)                   
½ Cup Maple Sugar                                        
¼ Cup Maple Syrup                                        
2 Eggs                                                             
2 Cups Flour                                                                        
1 Tsp Baking Soda                                                                       
1 Tsp Baking Powder
½ Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Cinnamon
½ Tsp Nutmeg                                                    
4 Mashed Bananas (must be very ripe)

 

Cream together: Butter, Maple Sugar, Maple Syrup, and egg

Slowly combine remaining ingredients, EXCEPT Bananas

Once everything is well mixed, add Bananas

Bake at 350 for approximately 35 min. 

Makes 2 Loaves or 4 Small Loaves

Vermont's New Maple Grades

Vermont's Maple Syrup grading system has changed.  Everything is now Grade A as follows:

Golden Delicate - Light, golden color with a mild, delicate taste. Excellent with pancakes & delicious over ice cream or yogurt.

Amber Rich - A light amber color & full-bodied flavor, this grade of syrup is the choice for consumers who desire the classic maple syrup flavor. 

Dark Robust - A dark amber color with a more pronounced maple flavor, this grade will satisfy consumers who desire the strong flavors of what was formerly known as Grade B.

Very Dark Strong - Nearly black, this maple syrup has a strong flavor that translates well to cooking, where the maple flavor will carry through to the finished dish. 

The easiest way to remember these new grades are: the first word describes the color of the maple syrup and the second describes the flavor.
